General Filing Information

  1. Provide the correct legal name of the person or entity. Consult state issued identification or charter documents where applicable.
  2. Make sure information entered is legible. Most states require information to be typed.
  3. Illinois requires all information is CAPITALIZED and in 10-point Helvetica font or Swiss font.
  4. Certain states (Utah & Wyoming) limit the characters for the collateral description. Use the addendum for lengthy collateral descriptions or to add additional parties.
  5. Check for additional filing requirements in Florida, Maryland and Tennessee which have recordation tax that may be due at the time of filing.
  6. Consult the appropriate state website for specific filing information regarding farm related collateral.
